Sir Stirling Moss - 1955 British GP Winner - Mercedes W196 Monoposto
Acrylic, 594mm x 420mm Limited Edition Giclée Print (Limited to 150 prints) with Certificate of Authenticity*
To mark the late great Sir Stirling Moss’ birthday, I’ve produced a new piece depicting his British Grand Prix winning Mercedes W196. This painting showcases the beautiful Mercedes with a black no.12 written on the bonnet (iconic to the race at Aintree, as they didn’t use the normal red race numbers). Moss and teammate Fangio had a race long dual, with the British driver crossing the line just over a car’s length ahead of the Argentinian.
This became an iconic race for two reasons. Gristly, it was Moss’ first World Championship Grand Prix victory, while it was also regarded as the W196’s finest race, with Mercedes getting a 1-2-3-4.
