Juan Pablo Montoya - 2005 British GP Winner

Painting of 2005 British Grand Prix winner, Juan Pablo Montoya. The Columbian claimed a stunning victory at the 2005 race at Silverstone, showcasing his exceptional racecraft and the pace of the McLaren MP4-20. Starting third, Montoya executed a bold move around the outside of Fernando Alonso on the first lap to seize the lead. Once in front, Montoya displayed flawless consistency, expertly managing tire wear and maintaining a strong pace. His win marked his first victory for McLaren and a crucial moment in the team’s mid-season resurgence. It was a masterclass in precision and determination.

This painting shows Montoya swinging into turn one, while being tailed by Alonso. I have tried to capture the bright summer sun by showing it reflecting off the bodywork of the beautiful McLaren and the heat haze on the tarmac between the two duelling rivals.
