The hugely charismatic Graham Hill won his first world championship with the BRM team (British Racing Motors) in 1962. This was the only championship win for the manufacturer, having spent millions of pounds over the previous years developing a championship contender. Hill was both versatile and consistent and won four races during the season, including a fantastic mid-season double in Britain and Germany, the latter on the notorious Nurburgring.

This painting depicts the beautiful BRM “Old Faithful” that Graham Hill drove during his championship winning season. The dark blue paint created a fantastic mirror effect when sunny and I’ve tried to capture this with the clouds on the bonnet.

2022 marked the 60 year anniversary of BRM’s most successful season, where they clinched motorsport’s ultimate prize.
